Belgrade wants to host next Belt and Road summit

Serbia has been backing the Belt and Road initiative since the very beginning, Serbian PM and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic said in Beijing on Monday. Taking part in the Leaders' Round Table at the Road and Belt Forum, Vucic said that "the key words we could use to describe the initiative are links and being connected - by that I mean new infrastructure projects, airports, bridges, and ways of establishing better ties among our countries." Vucic addressed heads of state and government of 28 countries and three heads of international organizations - the UN, the IMF and the World Bank - and proposed that the next Belt and Road Forum be held in Serbia. "We have already done much regarding bilateral cooperation with our Chinese friends," Vucic said, Tanjug reported. Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday personally extended his congratulations to Vucic on his victory in Serbia's presidential elections. "We have come quite a long way in our relations," Xi told Vucic after his address at the Leaders' Round Table. @b92
