Journalist of Turkish opposition daily detained

Turkish authorities have arrested the editor-in-chief of the online edition of opposition daily Cumhuriyet, Oguz Guven. On Friday morning, Guven said on Twitter that he was being detained. Cumhuriyet's website said that the reason for his arrest was not yet known. Pro-government Anadolu agency said that Guven was been detained "due to a news story about the death in a traffic accident this week of senior Turkish prosecutor Mustafa Alper who had been a leading figure in the prosecutions of suspects detained over the failed July 15 coup." Over the past several months, 19 of the newspaper's staff have charged under the state of emergency imposed after the failed coup, AFP has reported. @b92
